Akash Sharma is an investment professional specialising in asset allocation, portfolio construction, manager selection, and impact investing. As a Portfolio Manager at Wealth of Nations Impact Asset Management in Sydney, he developed Australia’s first multi-asset, multi-theme impact investment strategy and conducted comprehensive due diligence on over 50 global managers. At Wealth of Nations Advisors, Akash focuses on fund manager selection, collaborating closely with institutional investors, including super funds and family offices. Prior to this, he spent three years at Deloitte, working with private equity and real estate funds. Akash holds a Master of Finance from the University of Technology Sydney.
Ian Lyu is an experienced Investor Relations professional with over 7 years’ experience in Funds management working in various client facing roles. Most recently, he worked for a domestic small cap manager focusing on raising capital for their global strategy and servicing their existing high net worth client base. Prior to that, he worked for one of Australia’s largest asset managers Perpetual for over 3.5 years. Ian holds a Bachelor of Business majoring in Applied Finance and has completed the CAIA Level 1. Ian is deeply passionate about making the world a better place through innovative solutions in finance whilst helping investors achieve their fiduciary duties.
Mariel has been with Wealth of Nations Advisors (WONA) for over two years, recently transitioning to the investor relations side of the business. She graduated from the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) with a Bachelor’s degree in Law and has been admitted as a lawyer to the Supreme Court of New South Wales.
Mariel’s legal background provides her with a solid foundation in understanding the regulatory aspects of finance. Her enthusiasm for finance and investor relations drives her to continuously learn and grow in her role. Mariel is dedicated to building strong relationships with investors and enhancing her understanding of the financial industry, making her a valuable asset to the WONA team.
Uwe Fuehrer established Wealth of Nations Advisors in 2014 specialising in raising third-party institutional capital for its clients, best-in-class global alternative and impact fund management firms. Building upon his passion for positive social and environment change, Uwe leveraged the intellectual capital built up over a decade of engaging institutional and private wealth investors at the highest level, to launch the Impact Investing Portfolio, a platform through which Wealth of Nations Advisors, Wealth of Nations Fintech and newly created Wealth of Nations Impact Asset Management, aim to drive institutional capital into regional and global impact investment opportunities. Uwe has a 35-year career working in investment banking, having worked for some of the world’s largest investment banks in the United Kingdom and Australia. Uwe started his career with the Reserve Bank of New Zealand.
Devinka is a senior member of the IR team responsible for the firm’s capital raising in impact. Devinka is an experienced Product & Business Analytics professional with 10+ years in the Manufacturing and Retail industry with s a strong interest in sustainable farming and agritech. Devinka is skilled in Customer Behavioural Trend Analysis, Performance Implementation Reviews and Investor Deck Presentations having worked at some of the largest FMCG and Retail companies in Australia such as Woolworths, Metcash/IGA and Goodman Fielder.Devinka holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Accounting and Management from Deakin University and is a Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA).
Sherrie is a senior member of the investor relations team of Wealth of Nations Advisors, having joined the firm in 2018. Sherrie is a former lawyer who converted to investment banker in 1997, just before the Asian Financial Crisis. Sherrie worked in the Asian financial markets for nearly 16 years and was Head of South-East Asia Corporate Solutions, UBS AG (Asia Pacific), and prior to that, at Barclays Capital, where she was responsible for corporate derivative sales across Singapore, Malaysia & Indonesia. She is a specialist in financial risk management and hedging strategies. Sherrie has a law degree (LLB) from the University of Nottingham, UK and has been called to both the English and Singapore Bar. Sherrie is a senior member of the investor relations team of Wealth of Nations Advisors, having joined the firm in 2018. Sherrie is a former lawyer who converted
Layla is a member of the impact investor relations team. Layla is passionate about impact investing and the ability to direct capital for positive social and environmental change. The energy, infrastructure, and healthcare sectors, have been of particular interest, having grown up on an organic egg farm that was fully solar-powered and supplied major supermarkets. Layla is Sponsorship Director for the Sydney University Impact Investing Society and School and Relations Director for the Economics Society. Layla is a third-year student who previously studied a Bachelor of Economics, with a major in Philosophy, having transferred to a Bachelor of Commerce at the start of 2022, majoring in Finance and Econometrics, and will graduate at the end of 2023.
Madhav is a member of the impact investor relations team. Madhav demonstrates his passion for impact investing through his role as Director of Culinary Tales, a social enterprise aimed at empowering refugees and migrants through employment and facilitation of cooking classes. In addition to this, he has been curating the Impact Investing Fellowship at Sydney Impact Investing (SUISS) as VP (Education), with the aim of promoting the notion of ‘investing with purpose’, as well as managing his personal investment portfolio for over two years, with a keen focus on ‘green energy’. Madhav is completing a Bachelor of Commerce/Advanced Studies at the University of Sydney, majoring in Finance and Banking.
